GirlSkateUK Push The Prom

Push the Prom is a brilliant UK skateboarding event dedicated to girls, created to celebrate community, confidence, and the pure joy of skateboarding. Founded by the UK’s number one female skateboarder Lucy Adams alongside GirlSkateUK founder Danni Gallacher, the event was built around a simple but powerful idea: creating space for girls to claim their rightful place on the concrete.

Held in celebration of Go Skateboarding Day, the event brought together skaters of all abilities at The Level skate park in Brighton. The day began with free coaching sessions, offering encouragement, support, and a welcoming entry point for girls who might be stepping on a board for the first time. The focus was firmly on building confidence and fostering a sense of belonging within the female skate community.

From there, the energy ramped up with a mini-ramp competition, where prizes from generous sponsors including Penny Boards, Element Clothing, and WeSC were up for grabs. After hours of tricks, attempts, spills, and a few well-earned bruises, the group set off together on a three-mile skate along Brighton seafront, turning heads as they rolled all the way to Hove Lagoon skate park.

The afternoon continued with more competitions, prizes, and personal milestones — including several skaters bravely committing to their very first drop-in. The atmosphere throughout was supportive, loud, and joyful, driven by shared experience rather than rivalry.

Push the Prom is more than an event — it’s a statement about inclusion, progression, and community. The Beast team loved capturing the day and can’t wait to see where it goes next year.
