Lawrence Jacomelli TV Commercials Director London

Lawrence Jacomelli gained a First Class BA Hons degree in Graphic Design at UWE and from there went straight to work for a very big and successful UK production company…as a runner. He quickly rose through the ranks and after just a few months he was promoted to…assistant video editor. Having access at that time to an Avid video editing system was like getting the keys to Dad’s Porsche and taking it out on Friday night. He began shooting and editing ‘Behind The Scenes Videos‘ for TV commercials by day and short films shot on super 8 by night. One day the Creative Director at Publicis saw his Behind The Scenes Video for a commercial that he was producing and bringing him quietly to one side said that it was better than the actual advert. One year later and with no previous TV commercial directing experience, the same Creative Director hired him to shoot a spot for IKEA. That spot went on to win a Eurobest Award for Best Film Direction in the same year and category as Spike Jonze’s ‘Lamp’ also for IKEA. Spike won of course but Lawrence Jacomelli was quite happy with his silver for his first ever TV commercial.

A 15 year long career in video production shooting TV commercials for brands like Vodafone, Pepsi, McDonalds, Schweppes, Ikea, Carrefour, Visa and many, many more, has also seen him create one of the first successful Virals of all time – Pot Noodle “Precious”, a Lord of The Rings parody which he wrote, directed and produced and which won all the major Viral Awards. It’s seen him travel to over 30 different countries making commercials for TV that have won him so many awards i won’t bore you with them now, but do ask for a list if you’re interested! As a freelancer TV commercials director London, Lawrence Jacomelli has worked at many production companies and gained a vast amount of knowledge and experience. The UK production companies include; Great Guns, JSA  and Agile Films. International production companies include; Bazelevs, Park Production, Fibr, Spark, Them, Sagafilm, MME and Wilfrid Park. His entrepreneurial and travelling bug has seen him live in numerous countries sometimes in a house, sometimes in a car, and for a spell in a 1957 Airstream that he renovated and sold for big bucks on Ebay. A trip to Istanbul to shoot a commercial found him visiting a secret island, ‘Heybeliada’. Here he fell in love with an Ottoman Timber Mansion that was near collapse. He bought it that week, renovated it – another story – and it now runs as the “Best Holiday Apartments in Turkey” as voted by “The Guardian”.
