Clarks in Jamaica Trailer
Created for Clarks Originals, Clarks in Jamaica is a feature documentary exploring the deep cultural relationship between the island and one of Britain’s most iconic shoe brands. Tracing the story from the 1960s to the present day, the film reveals how Clarks — and in particular the Desert Boot — moved beyond fashion to become a symbol of identity, pride, rebellion, and self-expression in Jamaican culture.
Through a rich mix of archive material, contemporary footage, music, and first-hand testimony, the documentary connects Clarks to the rise of reggae, dancehall, the Rude Boy movement, and Jamaica’s journey through independence and social change. Musicians, artists, dancers, historians, and collectors share personal stories that reveal how Clarks became embedded in everyday life — from schoolyards and dancehalls to lyrics, rituals, and community memory.
More than a brand history, Clarks in Jamaica is a cultural portrait. It shows how a family-owned English shoe company was reinterpreted, redefined, and ultimately claimed by Jamaica — shaping global style and leaving a legacy that continues to influence music, fashion, and identity worldwide.
